Whitley RivesCommunity Development Coordinator
While Whitley Porter Rives has returned to the RiverKings front office as Community Development Coordinator, she is perhaps best known by fans for her antics on the ice as game-night emcee. Rives spent three and a half years with the RiverKings as a public relations writer for the front office before moving to the Community Foundation of Mississippi for one year to serve in Grants Development, and then moving to the RiverKings parent company, the nonprofit Maddox Foundation, for a year and half. During that time, she often served as mistress of ceremonies for RiverKings events. Rives graduated from Troy University with a double major in theater and Spanish and a minor in broadcast journalism. After college, she worked as a reporter for the DeSoto Times Today before going to work for the RiverKings. Other work history includes many summers with Agrifab, Inc. cotton module cover factory and jobs as a receptionist for Taylor, Jones, Alexander and Sorrell, Ltd. law firm and as a bilingual recruiter for Stylecraft Lamps, among others. Rives lives in DeSoto County with her husband Will, son Thane Kenneth, two dogs and a cat. Her parents are Ken and Cyndi Porter, and she has two brothers, John and Cannon. |
