RiverKings Bring Back Coyne, Sign Beaton

PRESS RELEASE – The Mississippi RiverKings and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Derek Landmesser have announced the re-signing of defenseman Richard Coyne and added forward Zach Beaton.

Coyne returns to the RiverKings blue line for a second seasonCoyne begins his second full season with the RiverKings after playing in 7 games in 2015-16 and 49 in 2016-17 with the club. A native of Cave Creek, AZ, the 6-foot-1 defenseman helped shore up the blue line for the RiverKings last season and figures to be a key piece to the defensive picture again this year. Before joining the RiverKings in 2015-16, Coyne played college hockey at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and at the College of St. Scholastica. 

Coming in at 6-foot-3, Beaton will begin his first professional season with the RiverKings. The 22-year-old Canadian national from Stratford, Prince Edward Island last played in the Canadian College Athletic Association with the Portage College Voyageurs. Beaton tallied three goals and three assists during his 18 games with Portage College. Previously, Beaton recorded 20 goals and 25 assists in 122 games while competing in the MJAHL with the Truro Bearcats and Miramichi Timberwolves.
