Barone backstops RiverKings to road victory

COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Cullen Bradshaw tallied a goal and an assist and Brad Barone stopped 30 of 31 shots against as the Mississippi RiverKings (8-4-0) got back into the win column with a 4-1 road victory over the Columbus Cottonmouths (4-7-0) in Columbus on Friday night.

The RiverKings took a two-goal lead in the opening 20 minutes. Chris Leone took a slap shot from the point off a faceoff that beat Brandon Jaeger early in the first period to put the RiverKings up 1-0. Later in the first, Mike Moran deposited Cullen Bradshaw's one-touch pass past Jaeger to send the RiverKings to the first intermission up 2-0.

In the second, the RiverKings wasted little time adding to their lead. Dillon Fox, just outside of the crease, hammered home a rebound to put the RiverKings up 3-0.

Midway through the second, the Snakes got on the board. Derek Gingera tallied a power play goal when he lifted a rebound past a diving Brad Barone to cut the RiverKings' lead down to 3-1.

The RiverKings regained their three-goal lead early in the third. Cullen Bradshaw's shot from the left-wing side slipped between the legs of Jaeger to put the RiverKings ahead 4-1 as the RiverKings bounce back to take their fifth win in six games.

Brad Barone (4-2-0) stopped 30 of 31 shots against in the win. Brandon Jaeger (2-5-0) stopped 28 of 32 against in the loss. Both teams were held scoreless on three power play opportunities.
