Thunderbolts Burn RiverKings, 5-2

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Wrapping up three games in three nights, the RiverKings fell to the Thunderbolts 5-2 in the weekend finale. Despite scoring two unanswered goals in the third period, the rally fell well short, and the Thunderbolts take a 2-1 series lead against the RiverKings this season. Jared Rutledge got the start in goal for the RiverKings, but unfortunately, the scoring started early and often for the Thunderbolts. Evansville netted three first period tallies, two of them off... RiverKings Can’t Control the Havoc, Fall 4-0

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - One night after shutting out the Knoxville Ice Bears 3-0, it was the RiverKings on the wrong side of the shutout falling to the Havoc, 4-0 on the road.  In a mostly scoreless first period, Huntsville would take the lead with only 7 seconds left thanks to a fluke play. While trying to set up a final rush for the period, Cody Walsh lost an edge allowing Huntsville’s Christian Powers to take it and bury the wrap around past Tyler Green.  Despite a strong... Read More

RiverKings Beat Knoxville, 3-0 Behind Green's 33 Save Shutout

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - The Mississippi RiverKings get back on the winning side at Planters Bank Ice at Landers Center, knocking off the Ice Bears, 3-0. Tyler Green made 33 saves in the win for his first shutout of the season.  The RiverKings needed answers on offense tonight, after the SPHL's leading scorer and RiverKing, Dillan Fox, was called up to the Reading Royals of the ECHL earlier today.  Harrington proved to be the offensive spark the RiverKings needed. In the first... Read More

RiverKings Shot Down By Marksmen, 3-1

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - RiverKings get on the board first, but Fayetteville nets three unanswered to knock off Mississippi 3-1 in the first meeting of the two teams this season.   In a game which featured so many former players on either side of the ice, the RiverKings and Devin Mantha would break the ice in the first period. While on the penalty kill a simple RiverKings’ dump in hit the right-wing boards and fooled Fayetteville netminder Peter Di Salvo who attempted to play the... Read More

RiverKings Rally Comes Up Short, Fall to Peoria 5-4

SOUTHAVEN , Miss - The RiverKings scored three unanswered goals to climb within one but fall short, 5-4, to the Rivermen.   Peoria would score early and often in the first period, netting three goals in the first eight minutes of the game. With the early onslaught, Coach Derek Landmesser opted to pull goaltender Tyler Green in favor of Jared Rutledge. The swap in goalies sparked the RiverKings offense as they scored moments later. Ryan Marcuz broke into the Bulls zone with a 2-on-1 opportunity and feathered a pass to Kristaps Bazevics streaking on the right-wing side. Bazevics ripped a wrist shot past Birmingham goalie Maveric Parks and the RiverKings jumped on top... Read More

Comeback Falls Short, RiverKings Fall to Pensacola 2-1

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - Tyler Green made 26 saves, and Devin Mantha scored his eighth goal of the season, but the RiverKings can’t mount the complete comeback at Planters Bank Ice at Landers Center as they fall to Pensacola.   The first two periods would remain scoreless, though not without action, as the middle frame saw fisticuffs between the RiverKings Brantley Sherwood and Pensacola’s Anthony Calabrese. Shortly after, Jake Schultz and Ice Flyer Patrick Harrison decided... Read More
